Jenn has built a career connecting artists and their audiences through the utilization of social platforms and content creation that clearly communicates who they are and what their work is about. She regularly posts marketing advice and tips on social media, provides free content creation tools, and offers services to help authors connect with readers, simplify book marketing, and sell more books.

In this episode, Jenn talks about empowering and educating creatives and writers so that they can take a strategic and active role in marketing themselves and their work - emphasizing that it’s the human connection part that’s so important in building these relationships with your audience.

She shares and unpacks three steps for how to approach marketing your book:

  • Knowing your goals

  • Clearly identify your ideal reader

  • Creating content that will stir the emotions you’re going for

Jenn also talks about stepping into the shoes of your audience, viewing content from their perspective, and organizing information on your website and social media pages in a way that will help lead your audience to the information that is most interesting and useful to them.

She ends this conversation with a reminder to make your content specific so that your audience has something unique to you to connect with, to focus on building connections and relationships over selling, and to take active steps to reach out to people rather than waiting on your profile for them to come to you.
