Episode 200: Sticking with things

Today on Fable and the Verbivore, we’re sharing our 200th episode and taking the opportunity to look back and celebrate this rather monumental milestone.

We start off by telling the absolute truth, that we both find it difficult to stick with things - which makes this accomplishment particularly meaningful to us. So, we decided to talk about that in this episode - unpacking some of the things that have helped us continue to show up to the work. 

The morning before this recording, we met over coffee and talked honestly about the future of the podcast, asking some difficult and uncomfortable questions. Questions like:

  • Did we want to continue?

  • What still sparks our joy?

  • What felt like a slog?

  • What made us scared in the best way?

  • What helped us discover new things to love?

  • What helped us reconnect with what we loved about doing this in the first place?

We talk about many of those here in this episode - the uncertainty we felt asking those questions and how being open to the shifting and changing answers over the last severa years have allowed us to pivot and center the things that give us pleasure - and thereby hopefully giving our wonderful audience something to connect with and enjoy.

These questions also helped us to key in on a few things we would like to do more of on this podcast. Things like:

  • Author interviews - especially ones that intimidate us

  • Discussions on topics we care about with a panel of guests joining us

  • Reading roundups where we talk about what stories (books, films, TV, musicals) we are connecting with and a little about why

  • Exploring a piece of storytelling we love and what the author did

  • Conversations where we get personal and dig into our writing and life

This conversation was scary and exciting in the best way, and we can’t wait to continue to share our newest episodes with you all!
